The entry that should have been posted last week.

The trip to Michigan:
I taught a class at MSU. Go Spartans.

Michigan State Campus

The Rental: 4x4 Dodge Ram... Booya!

A view of the capitol from the truck

My trip to Mecca... AKA. White Castle "20 Sliders please!"

The Michigan Capitol at night. There was a Nazi rally the next day, hence the fence.

Welp, I'm back from D.C.

It was a long week. I had 24 hours of training classes in 2 days. Then my flight back took 9 hours because of fog, delays, mixups, and the general suckiness of United Airlines. And now instead of going to sleep I'm updating my Xanga. What a sad existence.

Although, now I am officially a faculty member of the Leadership Institute. I will be teaching Student Publication workshops to college groups. I'm also doing some freelance writing stuff too.

Good to be home and in Texas.

Welp, Christmas Eve is here. I have entered the magical realm of gift cards.

Best quotes from Christmas Eve '05:

Dad: "Tomorrow I'm going to go out and buy 'Beavis and Butthead Do America.' That's a great movie. 'I am cornholio! I need TP for my bunghole!'"

5 Yr Old Sister: "I'm actually 13, I'm just a little short."

5 Yr Old Sister: "When I'm in college I'm going to have my own T.V. in my room and stay up and watch it until midnight!"

5 Yr Old Sister: "I wish I was a teenager, I hate being little, I have to do so many chores."
Me: "No you don't."

8 Yr Old Sister: "Wanna see my booty dance?" (proceeds to dance like a girl in a Nelly video).
Me: "Dear God."

Finals are upon us. Good grief Charlie Brown.

The Tables Turned

By: William Wordsworth

Up! up! my Friend, and quit your books;
Or surely you'll grow double:
Up! up! my Friend, and clear your looks;
Why all this toil and trouble?

The sun, above the mountain's head,
A freshening lustre mellow
Through all the long green fields has spread,
His first sweet evening yellow.

Books! 'tis a dull and endless strife:
Come, hear the woodland linnet,
How sweet his music! on my life,
There's more of wisdom in it.

And hark! how blithe the throstle sings!
He, too, is no mean preacher:
Come forth into the light of things,
Let Nature be your Teacher.

She has a world of ready wealth,
Our minds and hearts to bless—
Spontaneous wisdom breathed by health,
Truth breathed by cheerfulness.

One impulse from a vernal wood
May teach you more of man,
Of moral evil and of good,
Than all the sages can.

Sweet is the lore which Nature brings;
Our meddling intellect
Mis-shapes the beauteous forms of things:—
We murder to dissect.

Enough of Science and of Art;
Close up those barren leaves;
Come forth, and bring with you a heart
That watches and receives.
